INTRODUCTION

Language is the most powerful way when do you think about communication, language and culture go hand in hand, both of these, often define persons, traditions, and pretty much almost everything about their daily life. The relationship between language learning and culture is also considered for the possible effectiveness of benefiting from the culture in language. Language is one of the most relevant aspect in a specific culture because language and culture develop together and influencing the lives of people. In my opinion when Kramsch said “Do we teach language using culture or do we teach culture using language”.  In order to understand one, you must understand the other. Teachers and learners should be aware of culture issues the language can be beneficial for the process of language learning.

The relationship between language and culture and culture

 Individual written essay

Do we teach language using culture or do we teach culture using language”.

Culture refers to the cumulative deposit of knowledge, beliefs, values, attitudes, roles, spatial relations concepts of the universe is the system of knowledge shared by a relative group of people. According to (Kramsh, 1993), culture refers to ‘membership in a discourse community that shares a common system of standards for perceiving, believing, evaluating and action’ (p. 127). In interaction involves communication between people and it is through verbal and non-verbal language.

Human language refers to the grammar and other rules to make utterances and sounds in a way that others can understand. If language is mankind’s greatest invention, it is ironic that it was never invented. Language and culture are closely related and interactive. Language is a means to develop and transmit the culture as well as communicate within the culture. (Damen, 1987)

Learning and speaking another language is like thinking in different way from the one that speakers have learned in their community or society. Language is a medium to symbolize culture reality, the foreign language classroom has the responsibility to teach students other cultures to changes those stereotypes, language reflecting ones’ perceptions, perspectives and attitudes toward the world. Language is a main component of culture along with values, beliefs, and norms as well as customs; language is a product of culture, transmitted from one generation to the next in the socialization process (Hamers, 1989).

In the foreign language it is important to understand the context, for all teachers in a daily experience of teaching it is relevant cultural models that make learning the new language meaningful, and influence of cultural aspects on language learning. Acculturation model is an important concept for second language students because their need to acculturate in order to learn a language.

In conclusion, remember that “ culture is created and lived through  dialogue between the teacher and students and between them” (Kramsh, 1993) the process of acquiring the culture of specific and general knowledge, skills an attitudes it is very relevant the best communication and the other hand the interaction with the individual and other cultures.   Language is a medium to symbolize culture reality. Teachers and learners should be aware of culture issues the language can be beneficial for the process of language learning.

CONCLUSION  ABOUT UNIT 2

Language is a system that involve communication express ideas or feeling speaking and writing, the culture is the way of a life, especially the general customs and beliefs of a group of people, who shared attributes, stories, values, behaviors and practices. For example, in Canada one important thing for national identity is the human right, known your rights as a Canadian citizen, understand how your right are protected. England has become ever more diverse culturally and continues to exert a strong influence of the world. And in Australian there is greats respect for laws and for individual freedoms, normally Australia is a safe country with clean environment relaxed lifestyle.

In my opinion is very important for learners benefit from employing strategies, first using background knowledge about culture and language, second, collaborating and combining cultural communicative experience and third talk with native speakers can help to understand other cultures. Chamot (2018) recommend differentiating strategy instruction to meet students’ need based on diversity in culture, socioeconomic, and educational background; personality factors; and motivation.

Moreover, there are three important competences when do you need to teach and learn another language and culture: cognitive flexibility, ethnocultural empathy and intercultural understanding, when the classroom encourages cognitive flexibility learners develop creativity and power to using learning strategies because open opportunities and allow learners´ creativity flow.

Members of social group don’t only express experience in specific situation. It is possible that they create experience using language because it is the most important expression of feelings, language express cultural reality, people who identify themselves as a member of group acquiring common way of viewing the interaction with other members.

For teachers must instruct to their students on the background of language usage it is important to know about English culture when teach English as a foreign language. If a teacher teaches without reference of specific culture the students are learning empty or meaningless symbols, it is absolutely relevant understand the culture. “to teach a foreign language is also to teach a foreign culture, and it is important to be sensible to the fact that our students” Englebert (2004). Clearly teachers must remember that people for different culture learn things the other way, when the teacher introduces materials for the class it is necessary to evolve, many options because our attitudes reflect to society in general, the more you know about the cultural background of a language, the faster you can learn that language. Finally, for learning any language it is important to know about the people to speak that language and what is their culture, the other hand, it is essential to consider socio-cultural aspects, politics, economy, entertainment, different socio-cultural interaction.

Conclusion

Most people agree that language and culture have a huge connection, in my opinion language and culture it is very important when do you talk about communication because language is a system that involve communication express ideas or feeling speaking and writing, the culture is the way of a life, especially the general customs and beliefs of a group of people, who shared attributes, stories, values, behaviors and practices.

For learners benefit from employing strategies, first using background knowledge about culture and language, culture is important because it creates assumptions about how the world operate, how different people communicate their ideas and referents, second, collaborating and combining cultural communicative experience is the most important thing for education and finally,

When do you need to know any language it is important to know about the people to speak that language and what is their culture, the other hand, it is essential to consider socio-cultural aspects, politics, economy, entertainment, different socio-cultural interaction.
